Cold temps 58-62 & overcast skies
did not keep these students away
Tonite's dance was on Wednesday for the 5th time due to rain/cold temps on Tuesday.Tonite was the main event of the summer with a Hawaiian Luau which marked the last dance of the summer.There were [200] 4" glow sticks handed out,280 hats,400 Hawaiian Leis,and 200 Luau flowered braclets.The hot new line dance featured was the Cupid Shuffle only to matched by the Hot New Dance being done to Crank that/Soulja Boy. This dance came out of no where 2 weeks ago and was also peroformed by many the guys from Schuylkill Haven H.S.,many of which are playing sports including soccer,track,etc.There were students from many of the surrounding schools. However after polling the audience there was an overwhelming response from the Haven crew with Sch Haven H.S. students dominating the attendance.
There were no single nite attendance records set this year however the over-all attendance average was a record for the six years running being near 600 per nite.The attendance was only under 500 one time with [484]
Special thanks to ther parents for supporting this dance which entails two trips to the pool + picking up you kids and putting up with the traffic jams outside of the pool.All of you can be proud of your kids. Their behavior is commendable,just look at the pictures these are not censured simply because they are perfect just the way they are. Also they perform incredibly on the dance floor trying lots of new moves and new dances.Special thanks also the Pottsville City Police force for the great job in providing a safe enviroment for the students. and finally thank you to the JFK staff including Steve Crater,"pool mgr",Sara Cicero,assist mgr", and Corey Quirk,"concession mgr",lifeguards that manage this operation and supervise the dance and swimming.U guys are the coolest and it's been a pleasure working with U. I hope to CU all back here next year. Last but not least I thank Tom Palamar from the City of Pottsville administrator's office,Mary Quirk,"City Clerk",Ron Renninger,"recreation director",and supporting staff for making this all possible.
Attention Parents:
For your peace of mind your children are safe at JFK Pool Splash Party Dances.These dance feature 3-5 uniform policeman along with a large staff patroling the pool. These people are not in the office sitting around.
This dance is highly supervised by life guards,manager,assistant manager,JFK Staff,& 3-6 Policeman in uniform.There is no smoking allowed by anyone on the premises,there is an age limit which is 12th grade and the parking lot is watched after the dance is ended.Anyone congregating in the parking lot will be asked by the Police to leave.No one can leave the dance and return.Anyone passing items thru the fence may be asked to leave.Plus anyone with alcohol on their breath will be breath-a-lized and taken to City Hall.All parents are welcome to preview the dance while your child is here.In my opinion these students are well behaved and and as a parent/grandparent I can say,"these kids are the best"!!
Anytime there is lighting along with the showers,the dance will be immediately canceled due to the dangers of Lighting.Some of the students were waiting at 10:15pm and still had not been picked up by their parents.
PS: Students throwing thrash in the pool area. Do Not Do this!!!!!Use the Garbage Cans please. Plus you must wear a swim suit when entering the pool.
